Bacteriological cotton is obtained from the carding of raw cotton that hasn’t been bleached and therefore is not absorbent. This is why it is not white but has the natural colour of the raw fibre. It is used in the pharmaceutical industry and in the restoring of works of art. Carded raw cotton, like cotton wool, is packed in bales containing two pleated layers 50 cm wide and 130 m long. The bale is packed in white raffia and measures 100cm x 100cm x 50cm.
